Summer Reading

Since high school, I’ve kept a list of books I’ve read - it helps me remember them and recommend them to other readers! In the last few years, that meant marking them “read” on GoodReads.

But . . . I came across a fun idea via Debbie Ridpath Ohi and Rhonda Jenkins and thought I’d try something new this summer. While I’ll keep marking my reading on GoodReads (it’s just so nice for sorting and browsing), I’m also going to experiment creating a doodle page of notes - and collecting the summer’s worth on Padlet.

Like most good ideas, I didn’t come up with this one. Here are some links to track it back:

  • Donalyn Miller started the #bookaday challenge ten years ago. While I’m not sure I’ll keep up with a book a day, I’m using the hashtag for my summer reading. You can see the archived Facebook Live event here, on the Nerdy Book Club Facebook Page.

  • Author/illustrator Debbie Ridpath Ohi has all sorts of #bookaday resources on her website. And she makes fun pages of her books read and shares them on her website and Padlet.

  • Rhonda Jenkins, in true teacher-librarian fashion, took the idea and added directions on how to create the images using Google Drawings and an iPad.

Which brings it to me . . . here’s my first book read ^ and my summer Padlet below.

So what have you been reading this summer?
