Life in the Library

“All the secrets of the world are contained in books. Read at your own risk.”

― Lemony Snicket

cko2Shhh. Don’t tell anyone, but being a school librarian (who knows what a “media specialist” does anyway?) is the best job in the world. I spend my days teaching kids, talking about books, and helping teachers. And I get to play on the computer.

So far, I’ve worked in school libraries, public libraries, and university libraries. My favorite is right where I am now: an elementary school within walking distance from my home.

And yes, like most writers and most librarians, I love to read. Ever since I was itty-bitty. In fact, as a kid, my dad always teased me that I would be a librarian someday. That’s because I read all the time—walking home from school, while brushing my teeth, under the table at dinnertime, and under the covers at night.

I’m still like that most days.
