Visiting the School Next Door
Last week I took a few minutes out of my day to pop in to the school down the road. A group of fourth graders had been reading Malcolm with their librarian. It was a short visit, but so much fun!

A welcome banner. Look closely–all the critters are there (and I think we’ve got some future illustrators in the group. WOW!).
The students presented me with a “Comf-E-Cube,” stuffed full of things from the book. I wish I had a better picture–the attention to detail was amazing! A dictionary, a broken collar, a pair of reading glasses, a green hair elastic, Poptart crumbs…it was incredible!

The Week that Was: Friday Five
I finished up work this week. The library is inventoried and tallied and organized and all in Perfect Order . . . just in time for summer school to start on Monday. Marvelous Middle Grade Monday: MY EXTRA BEST FRIEND by Julie Bowe
Yay, the final book in the “Friends for Keeps” series comes out this week! This one I read as an ARC. Then some savvy fifth graders spied it on my desk, convinced me to slap a barcode on it, and I didn’t see it again until the last day of school. Enjoy!
