Of Books and Boys and a Little Visit to China

shanghaiWell, I don’t think I’ve even mentioned it here, but I’m headed to China. Tomorrow! For two weeks!!

And I tell you, for this blog, while I was away? I had Big Plans. BIG PLANS, I say! (Does anyone know what book that is from? Answer at the end of the post.)  Pre-scheduled posts that would go off like well-timed fireworks while I was gone.

Only, to have those posts magically flare up on my blog, I had to write them ahead of time. And, um, I didn’t do so hot on that. It seems like relatives visiting, book deadlines, and playing at the pool with Mr. E and Colonel Mustard greatly distracted me. And really, that’s as it should be.

But I’ll return–never fear! I’ll return with lots of fun stuff planned, like… kid-friendly interviews (by two friendly kids!) with authors/illustrators/book creators Eric Wight (Frankie Pickle), S. Terrell French (Operation Redwood), Chris Gall (Dinotrux), and Eleanor Davis (The Secret Science Alliance). Explorations of Skype and Wordle and Diigo and Mindmeister as part of AASL’s Top 25 Websites for Teaching and Learning and how I plan to use these in my school library and with my writing. More Book Look mini-reviews of books boys will love (have you read The Dunderheads by Paul Fleischman yet? The Candy Shop War by Brandon Mull? Please, go forth!).

All of that and much, much more (i.e. China pics)… after August 15.

Yep. It’s Big Plans by Bob Shea. Love that book.
